I've suffered from bouts of depression off and on most of my life. 4 years ago I was diagnosed with epilepsy and told by 3 different doctors that depakote is the only drug I can take for it. For 4 years now my depression has been pretty much constant. Even tried taking my life. I'm now on anti-depression meds (prozak), but it doesn't seem to do much. I can't not take the depakote, but I really am tired of feeling so down all the time. What to do?
You may need an adjustment in the dosage of Prozac or possibly a different antidepressant altogether. There are many to choose from and what works for one person doesn't always work fot the next. It is trial and error. Please let your doctor know that the Prozac is not working. There is no need to feel down all the time.
I have been depressed, tried many meds, finally found out that 40 Mg of Celexa and a low dose of Effexor works for me for depression. It may take awhile until you find out what is right for you and I know its very hard but please hang in there because it does and will get better... I promise.
