my face is breaking out with birth control; hence my dermotologist prescribed me with spironoloactone, but i'm still nursing my 16-month-old toddler at night just to put her to sleep.
Hello hansahrang & welcome to the site. NO! You absolutely should not be taking this medication & nursing your child! It can pass into & through the breast meilk & harm your child! See below:
FDA pregnancy category C. It is not known whether spironolactone will harm an unborn baby. Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant while using this medication. Spironolactone passes into breast milk and could cause harm to a nursing baby. Do not use this medication without telling your doctor if you are breast-feeding a baby.

I wouldn't recommend that you breast feed while taking this medicine.
Spironolactone has been found to be tumorigenic in rats and canrenone, the major (and active) metabolite of spironolactone appears in human breast milk. The manufacturer recommends that due to the potential for serious adverse reactions in nursing infants, a decision should be made to discontinue nursing or discontinue the drug, taking into account the importance of the drug to the mother.
