Medication - I am prescribed 30 mg morphine SR for chronic back pain. I accidentally took it twice & I can't get a hold of my Dr. Will I be ok? I took 1st dose early this morning around 7:00 a.m. Fell back asleep around 11:00 when I woke up I took another dose forgetting I had already taken one this morning :( I'm freaked out! Will I be ok?
Just stay propped up in a sitting position for a few more hours. Bad effects would have probably happened within 2 hours of the second dose. you're functioning, you're writing better than I am-my coffee and thyroid hasn't kicked in yet- you have a high tolerance to it--so i wouldn't be flying jets off of an aircraft carrier, cutting diamonds or driving for the rest of the day. You'll probably feel drowsy and have slower reflexes- which is a good reason not to drive or run a jack hammer--Relax and stay away from construction sites, cabinet and welding shops. good luck- and take another nap- tomorrow you'll feel fine.
As a preventative, keep paper and pencil by you and always write down when you take this medication. Put the time and the date plus the amount if you vary it.
Should this happen again, You really need to call for help. What one gets through one time doesn't mean the heart and respiration can take another hit again. In other words, you might have been very lucky.
