kaismama is right, doc's don't know why gabapentin works on nerve pain, but it supposedly does. Many of the antiepileptic meds work on nerve pain.
Lyrica is also supposed to be a good one, but so many people are allergic to it.
Gabapentin seems to slow down sciatica pain, if you get that? It takes the edge off the pain, you still feel it, yet it's not as bad as it was. That's all I know and I believe that's about all the doctors know as well.
