It has come to my attention that Maxaquin (the international market name for lomefloxacin HCl) is no longer available in the United States. Yet, the generic version under the name of lomefloxacin can still be found in the United States. Was the prescription version banned (or was it banned) by the FDA or other organization? Did the manufacturer (Pharmacia) choose to pull the prescription drug from the market? If so, why? Was there too large a number of deaths or serious side effects? Thanks for the upcoming answer!
