is 10 mg a day in a mentally disabled person going to be enough to calm him?
I agree with kaismama, there is no way to know. However, the recommended initial dose is 15 mg daily. To achieve a therapeutic benefit, at intervals of 2 to 3 days the dosage may be increased 5 mg per day, as needed. The maximum daily dosage should not exceed 60 mg per day in divided doses of 20 mg to 30 mg per day are common for some people. Also you should take buspar (buspirone) in a consistent manner with regard to the timing of dosing; either always with or always without food. With all that was said I advise you to consult with the Dr on how much to take as the Dr knows the patient best as some people only require a small dose daily.
