In the mid 1990's I was a technician at an Army Research Lab studying the effects of melatonin on "shift lag" (same as jet lag, but caused by working nights or shift rotation). We found no long term effects of 10mg of melatonin daily for +/- 2 weeks. Knowing I did research with melatonin, a friend asked me to advise him on a shift change program with melatonin. He took 10mg daily. He reported to me that after about 3 months, his hair started falling out. I cannot be certain that the hair loss was caused by the melatonin since he was not part of a controlled laboratory study. If you research "shift-lag" you will be able to read the research protocols and findings from research teams all over the globe. There are tons of them. Hope this helps.
