My mother in law is a CNA and recommended MC for my constipation. But I wanted to know how many days it tends to last. I have to work in the morning and I don't wanna go running every 2mins.
Magnesium citrate is an osmotic laxative. It works by drawing water into the intestines which bulks and softens the stools. It's important to take a large glass of water with each dose. It usually produces its laxative effects 1/2 to 6 hours after.
It's difficult to predict how long the laxative effect will last because everyone is different. To avoid an embarrassing situation I would recommend you take the lower dose of half a bottle initially and repeat in 24 hours if stools have not returned to normal.
All the best.
