I have CRPS bilateral knees after having implant in the 2nd knee. I take Tramadol ER 300 mg tabs 1x/day and Gabapentin capsules 300 mg 3x/day for pain. Gabaoentin side effects for me - I get really agitated & gained 30 lbs.
Wondering about Lyrica's effect on pain compared to Gabapentin, as Tramadol takes the edge off but still have a lot of really bad days and could use more relief w/o going to a stronger narcotic like oxycodone, which I can't tolerate. Thank you for any help!
They both made me really sleepy and drowsy even on lower doses. The Lyrica was far worse. No pain reduction so gave up on both of them. Also heard of weight gain in a lot of people and didn’t want that.

Everyone reacts differently to medications. What works for one may not work for another. I haven't tried gabapentin but I have been on Lyrica for several years for fibromyalgia and spine pain. For me the only downside was the weight gain. Talk to your doctor about possibly switching to Lyrica and see what he thinks.

I'm interested in this question too. I am currently on 1200 mg. Gabapentin (in two doses - morning and evening) and am also on Percocet . I am taking the Gabapentin both as a psych med and for diabetic neuropathy. I try not to take the Percocet unless I really, really need it, sometimes going a whole week without it. I have experienced no gum problems and though I have gained weight, it is only in the last few months. Prior to that I had lost 70 pounds and kept it off for 18 months, so I don't think the Gabapentin is the culprit.. I was on a lower dose of Gabapentin until about two years ago.
