Would it be ok to take Lyrica for Fybromylgia and Topamax for migraine prevention at the same time?
I've taken those 2 meds together and never had a problem. I say yes but please only take it if it was prescribed to you. I'm not in the medical profession, although all of us here might as well be, but those 2 meds do not have any interactions with each other from what I've seen.
I took both at one time. I stopped the Topamax after 6 mo because I didn't feel any improvement and it was messing with my thinking.
Lyrica is an anti-convulsant and for nerve damage pain.
Topamax is the above and it is used for migraines.
I checked on interactions. It DOES say that the two together may increase the side effects of drowsiness, confusion, thought process interference, nausea, and others I don't remember.
Important: watch for weight gain!
Btw... If you are having problems with migraines, Imitrex was a miracle drug for me. It's not for prevention but it relieved my headache within 20 min.
This is an older post but I have found that it depends on which interaction checker used. I tend to look at medscape and here on drugs.com and every once and awhile I find interactions between drugs on one that is listed on one. I like to be informed and I don't trust just one. Then I like to look at askapatient just to see how others feel about a particular drug.
This is a great forum but again I don't trust just one forum.
I don't trust anything or anyone blindly.
