I'm getting my third shot of lupron tomorrow. I have numerous fibroids, cysts and endometreosis. Will be having hysterectomy in beginning of Oct. I'm having extreme mood swings and am unbearable. I will be divorced before this is over... is there anything to take to ease the mood swings and depression, lack of sex drive, hot flashes, bone pain etc
Hello. Usually they treat Endomtriosis. I shall assume you have done that before the more radical hysterectomy choice.
Yes, your hormones will change. But, no it will not simply go away. I suspect you have more than one thing going on here. Depending on your age, number pregnancies and all sorts of things your hormonal reactions are complex. Going through a surgical menopause is a lot like what you are dealing with. The surgery will get rid of the pain and cramping. Some people do end up with a pretty easy time of it, but I believe it depends upon the age of the individual.
Have you discussed the outcome with your OB/GYN? Be sure you are clear of what to expect including recovery time, hormonal adjustments and such. The symptoms you are feeling now may hang on for some time while you adjust. Some of us have an easy menopause and some do not. I think there are some people on the site who will give you their experiences.
I do suggest you get on an anti depressant that handles anxiety as well if you are not already. It will help with the transition. Your hubby going with you to appts? Does he know what to expect? Docs are good at helping the husband understand their role in this. Wishing you a smooth change.
