How long have you been on the Nerontin? Have you taken an EMG exam. That may help focus on where the problems is. I started out with Neuropathy in my left leg in 2001 and had all the medical exams, the drugs and I can't tell you how many doctors. When I spoke with a neurologist and started the Nerontin, it took a couple of weeks to work but I have been on this medication since and stopped it once or twice, thinking the problem would go away and it came back. The tingling, the burning up and down the leg and I have had all the drugs but the Nerontin (Gabapentin also another name) was increase over the years, and now I would not do without it. Opioid's don't work on nerve pain. Increasing the Nerontin to its maximum dosage did the trick for me (400mg Cap - 3 times a day) Talk to a neurologist and get a second opinion. Also do some research on Neuropathy to understand the causes and what medications are recommended. The EMG exam may show where the nerve pain is being generated from and do some research before going under the knife. Spinal stenosis can be a very dangerous operation if not done in the right hands. I had spinal stenosis of the neck and after numerous doctors telling me the risks of paralysis, I did some research on a doctor who specialized in spinal areas and he replaced my decayed c-3 to c-5 with a cadaver bone, did not talk about paralysis and the operation was a success and that was 5 years ago. Good luck to you and keep up on your research and second opinions.
