I've had lower back pain for 9years now. I don't have insurance so I've never been diagnosed. The past year the pain is getting to be unbearable at times. But I'm in constant pain. Should I go to the ER for help?
I can't tell you what to do or what is wrong but I'll share what happened to me. I hurt my back in February of this year. I went to ER, they gave me 3 pain narcotics shots after I sat waiting for 5 hours with my husband, they sent me home. I continued to have pain and my Dr wouldn't do anything. I found out 2 weeks later when someone FINALLY ordered xrays, I broke a vertebrae in my lumbar back. I've still had a lot of pain . I also have 3 herniated discs in my lumbar spine and Sciatica down both legs shade I fall often.
This is what happened to me. If you are having a lot of pain, get checked out. Make someone listen to you if you have to. Keep after them. I had to. That's how I found out I have a broken back!
I woke up with it age 38 and I am now 46. My Dr told me once a bad back, always a bad back, you can get a CT scan, but your options are going to be limited. Surgery is BAD, it fixes what hurts for now, but it knocks the discs out of place above and below where a disc was replaced, and then you need more surgery. Its a bad cycle.
I could not deal with the sciatica most, it was worse than the back pain and the chiropractor is the only help I have found that could keep the sciatica away and I could learn to live with the back pain, standing hurts the most. Walking I am ok. Sit too long and it hurts.
So surgery that will be repeated if you get it, or take dope, or go to the chiropractor and let them decompress your spine. I have degenerative disc disease L5S1 in four pieces in my back and the chiropractor has been the only relief I have found that helps more than causes other problems.
There are so many reasons for back pain. Some reasons are due to the muscles and believe it or not, other reasons are due to the joints in our spine. The best way to find out what is going on is to have x rays first, then an MRI if you can find some way to pay for it or a hospital that will do it. I hope you are able to find the root cause because I know how horrible back pain is. I have degenerative disc disease, and other problems so I know how horrible you are feeling. Until you find out, I would like to suggest taking Epsom Salt baths with Lavender when the pain is unbearable. Please let us know what you find out. Hugs
