Hello, I have low progesterone according to my bloodwork and my Dr. told me to try vitex. I am very nervous as i have anxiety and depression and I am on Effexor and Klonopin. Does anyone have any experience taking these. I also have some vitamin deficiencies as well! Thanks so much.
Well it really depends on why you want the hormone therapy. It also depends upon your age. Later thirties mean peri menopause. Early 20s needs a skilled gynecologist. I have used hormone replacement therapy when starting menopause and testosterone when trying to conceive. They all may have problems. Mostly of the making your body feel a hot flash or becoming emotional. Generally being on birth control will help. But the side effects, if you have them, may well be worth the goal. Therefore, take a look at what is the benefit and what will happen if you don't take the estrogen.
Can we assume you do not have any other diseases like diabetes, on statins, high BP and so forth?
It helps to do some research. It is possible that your anxiety is due to this imbalance of your body and you might find yourself feeling better. I just recalled that I had more confidence and one less thing to concern myself. I also trusted my GYN who was wonderful and knew if it wasn't the right thing for me I could stop at any time by letting him know and we would have a plan how to do that so there were no major side effects. It is totally in your control and I suspect you will do just fine. More information for your situation may be just what you need. Karen
