Hello whodat - I don't believe there are any laws as to what Dr. you choose, other than insurance "laws"! But, you may want to be sure to ask both Drs. many, many questions, so you can be sure to have your pain managed, while at the same time, being able to detox with the Suboxone. As you probably already know, the two meds. are not used synonymously, which is what makes the pain management difficult sometimes. Many of us, who have used narcotics for pain, are not used to using the less effective meds, which is often the only alternative for chronic pain. It was tough for me to completely eliminate the choice of narcotics for pain, but I am so glad I did. I've seen many make that choice and live comfortably, even through operations, etc. It just takes a different perspective on pain and tolerance to it! Good luck. J.
