Currently getting on 10 mg of Celexa, using 3 mg a day/ night for anxiety. Its not working so well. Wondering what you think would be a better benzos to control the anxiety without wanting to sleep all day? Celexa seems to be making the anxiety keep going up and up. Not sure what to do. I don't want to keep increasing the lorazepam. My doctor wants me to go to 4 mg a day. I know weaning off that will be hell. Any help is appreciated.
I have had good luck (working with my prescriber) taking a beta blocker in low dose ( I take clonidine) vs a benzodiazepine to control my anxiety and it has been extremely helpful. I used it to taper myself off of Xanax. Some beta blockers can be sedating, so you will want to first work with your Dr. to see if you’re a candidate for this type of medication.
A GeneSight test would be more helpful in determining what medications work best for you based on your genetic profile. It may be that the Celexa is not a good fit for you. I found this to be true of one of my medications prescribed for anxiety and depression.
Good luck and hope this helps.
