I was on the Depo shot for almost 8 years once i found out it was only FDA approved for 2 I stopped getting them I am now married and stopped about 7 months ago will i ever be able to have my own children? and how long does it take to actually get my menstrual cycle back i haven't had 1 yet my doctor didn't warn me to switch and it was my family doctor i always went to
It can take up to 18 months to regain your fertility, from the time of your last shot. Everyone is different, though.
If you want to get your regular menstrual cycle back quicker, do some research on Vitex/Chasteberry. You can't use it if you're on hormonal birth control.
It sorted me out after Depo Provera, within a couple of months. I still use it now, because it keeps my hormones balanced, meaning lighter periods & less PMS.
I really hope you can get pregnant because I was on the depo since I was 17-20 and after that I have had struggles. I never messed around with my body between them times as it never crossed my mind but after I was 20 my body started acting funny so I stopped the depo. Later on I started the pill to be safe and NEVER took it properly as I knew my body was ruined from the depo. I bled for months when I first started resulting in them thinking I could be having a miscarriage. So many risks I took where I thought to myself I must be pregnant and nothing. I tested my body so many times and so many negative tests. I finally decided to take the risk and not take ANYTHING it has been 6 months of no contractive pill or shot and not 1 weird sign and still negative tests when I have been actually scared thinking maybe I am this time. It’s really sad for us to go through these feelings. I’m not even ready to have a child because I would be alone but these problems make me consider it. I really hope you have no struggles. there are so many pages on here or people saying depo has made them infertile and it is very sketchy. If you are happily married and ready I would go to a fertility clinic as doctors won’t help us who don’t want babies now. I already tried
