I was on the birth control shot for over a year, something happened with my insurance so I didn't get my latest shot and have been off it for a little over a month. My boyfriend and I had sex and he pulled out, but I got nervous and took the plan B pill. We used a condom the next day and it broke. Should I get another plan B? I'm not trying to use it as birth control, that's why we got the condoms. I've also made an appointment with my doctor to get back on the shot. Please, I would prefer advice from people who have experienced the same or simimar situations.
The Manufacturer of Plan B states that it does not cover you for any instances of unprotected sex that occur after you have taken it.
You are also not meant to use Plan B more than once in any 1 cycle. It is a huge dose of hormone & is only to be used in total emergency, because of the impact it has on your body.
If you have to take it again then take it, but it is likely you can expect your periods to be messed up for a couple of months, & may get spotting or bleeding in between. You may also get lots of other hormonal symptoms, such as those you'd get with a period or a pregnancy.
Could also have an IUD/Coil put in place by a doctor, which can be used as emergency contraception, if inserted within 5 days (120 hours) of the unprotected sex, It can also be left in place as longer term protection. You can do an internet search to read about them.
