Very aggressive & combative behavior after taking drug
The mean plasma half life for Nuplazid is approximately 57 hrs and steady-state concentration is typically reached in 12 days. If your loved one was not on Nuplazid for 12 days, they had not yet reached steady state. If they quit taking Nuplazid, every 57 hrs the concentration in their blood stream will drop in half. Drugs affect everyone differently (especially DLB and PDP patients). Your loved one may be experiencing a negative reaction to the drug. Do, however, keep in mind that you have described psychosis symptoms that often appear as the disease progresses (regardless of medication). With my father (DLB) and grandmother (PDP) those symptoms were often brought on by a UTI or a URI. Based on study data Nuplazid relieves some psychosis symptoms for 3 out of 4 sufferers and eliminates symptoms for about 1 in 8. My father was very close to the 1 in 8.
