How long does it take lithium to work the best of it's ability?

Hi Johniett. Lithium normally takes a few weeks to take optimal effect. Doctors typically start at a low dose and slowly increase the dose until the desired effect is reached. When I was prescribed it, it took about 3 weeks to work. I sure felt a lot better after I reached that point. Just hang in there I'm sure your DR. will obtain the correct level for you, everyone is different. Best of luck to you. Packard2046
