I've read and heard that when on this med, abruptly stopping is the worst thing you can do. Well, I've been on the med for only 13 days, and I am wondering--could I stop now without it affecting me negatively? Or how long could I go into taking it could i stop before having to be "wiend" off of it
Are you taking 10 mg per day? If so, you could take only 5 for a few days and then quit, just to be safe. Calling your Dr. is always the best way to go. Since it's the weekend, you can open a capsule, dump out about half of the granules, reclose the capsule, and take that dose. This is the cautious way so that you don't get any nasty side effects from withdrawal. You may end up tasting the nasty taste of the granules.
There will be people who say just stop taking it, the 10 mg shouldn't bother you, but it does bother some people, so I mentioned a more cautious way to withdraw. You can always talk with your pharmacist who's an expert in this field and take his or her opinion under consideration, also. Or wait until Monday and call your prescribing Dr. and get instructions. Now you decide.
