Switched from Lexapro to Zoloft about 3 weeks ago, hoping for it to help with panic attacks. How long should I give it to "take effect"? I have xanax, but would rather not take a habit forming drug.
You should probably allow a full 8 weeks at whatever your Doctor determines the target dosage to be. Zoloft is effective at blocking panic attacks at doses starting at 75 mg.
"Sleep, energy, or appetite may show some improvement within the first 1-2 weeks. Improvement in these physical symptoms can be an important early signal that the medication is working. Depressed mood, anxiety, and lack of interest in activities may need up to 6-8 weeks to fully improve.

Try to be patient and give this medication a fair trial as it doesn't work quickly. However, it is among the top three meds for anxiety/depression in clinical trials and by user reviews.
Best regards and I hope you're feeling better soon! Wildcat
