I am taking escitalopram 5mg for more than 3 years, now I feel much better but not to the fullest. Can I continue this medicine for one more year? is not there any side effect of long term using of escitalopram?
Take it as long as it works! I don't think there's a ton of research on taking it this long. When companies do "long term" studies they mean like 6 months. Which is funny because you're supposed to take them for several months anyways. If there were some glaring consequences, we'd be talking about them. A lot of us have to take psych meds our whole lives, and you're definitely not setting a record with taking lexapro that long. I'm just happy it hasn't pooped out on you over these years! Take it as a blessing that you haven't had to shift. Is there a reason you're wanting to stop?
