I have been taking 25mg for almost a week, and I have not had any sedation from this (something that alot of people say it does for them) but I was curious if anyone is taking this medication and had a success with it and how long did it take you to notice a difference? (I know almost all anti-depressants say 3-4 weeks)
Hi jakemje, You we're correct when you said Doxepin takes approx a month to get the full/correct level of medication in your body.
Doxepin is a tricyclic antidepressant.
Most people who take 25 milligrams or more are advised to take there Doxepin at night because of its sedation effect.
Whether you take it with or without food is up to you, but it's best to take it with a lot of fluids. Taking the medication with water help regulate the level in your body faster.
Taking the Doxepin at the same time each day will also help to stabilize the level sooner.
Final note, keep in mind Doxepin is used as a sleeping aid as well.
Hope all goes well
Jakemje; Yes this one does kick in faster than some of the others but it is normal not to feel a lot when you first start it. So you really should keep taking it for at least a few more weeks and if not noticing anything talk with your doctor and see if it's an increase in dose for awhile. As you know we all react differently to medications so it's not always the same. But it for sure is a bit early to tell how it's going to work for you. good luck things to get better.
