I have Major Depressive disorder,HAD,and PTSD. This has been adde to my Cymbalta. I am on 10 mg and just starting my third week.
You may need up to 6 weeks before Brintellix works for you. It may happen sooner also. We're all unique and drugs act a little differently in each person. I have had your same diagnoses but I no longer feel the PTSD very strongly. I can understand how you must feel. It's a tough deal to have handed to you. The Brintellix is an SSNRI (Selective Serotonin Norepinephrine Reuptake Inhibitor) and the Cymbalta is a SSRI (Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitor) so they vary chemically in how they act.
I respond/react very quickly to new meds. I had been taking Wellbutrin for years and I guess I just got used to it cause it just wasn't working anymore. My doctor added Brintellix and the first few days I actually felt better. Then I started having severe anxiety attacks and nausea. I lost 15 lbs in a couple of weeks. I was also had foggy brain really bad and I couldn't think of the simplest words. So I has to stop it. I was really disappointed because I have heard really good things about it. I guess it just didn't work for me for some reason. I hope it helps you. Like I said, the people that it has worked for love it. Good luck and hang in there!
