Whats the time frame for taking this medication before it could start to cause damage to the liver? And how whould one know if any liver damage has begun? I hand knee surgery in Feb.of 2012 and was told I have Rhematiod Arthritis as well... Febuary is when i first started the pain medicine Hydro/Acetami and have continued to current time Oct. 2012 (10 mons). Sometimes I take 2 at a time within 6 hour period because the pain is so bad in my hands arms and feet. Could there be damage in my liver already? I have noticed I'm sleeping much less now then ever before and I'm having to use the bathroom 2 to 3 times during the night almost every nite for the last 2 to 3 months. I'm so dang scared of using any drug for longer than a year. Thank you so much!!
If you're scared of taking this drug, and I would hesitate too because of the tylenol, you can ask the doc to prescribe something else that does not have tylenol in it. They've found that if you stay under 4,000 mg a day you're ok. If you are worried about your liver, you can ask the dr to run a liver panel (blood test) that is how they tell. If you don't take anything else with tylenol in it, you should be ok as long as you don't exceed the recommended daily dose. With rheumatoid arthritis I would see a pain management doc. There are better things for chronic pain.
