500mg 2x daily 58yr male
I literally just finished up a round of Bactrim for a kidney infection turned sepsis. They originally put me on Cipro until I was back a week later because it wasn't working. The doctor gave me the Bactrim and within three or four days I saw improvement. If you aren't feeling better after a week I would suggest trying a different antibiotic. The Cipro was the wrong antibiotic and it did nothing against my infection. So if Bactrim isn't working for you, then you might need to find one that will fight the infection.
I've had good results with Bactrim before and the one time I took it for a UTI, it worked beautifully within about 2 days. Hopefully that has been the case with you.
