I want to get pregnant but I don't know how long it takes for the birth control to stop working after I take it off...
Most Drs recommend that you wait 6 months after stopping birth control to start trying. You may be able to get pregnant right away. It doesnt take long to "get it out of your system" but some women take a little longer to begin cycling normally. Some Drs are okay with you trying right away. Be patient though. It can often take up to a year for a couple to get pregnant. Remember that your fertile window each month is only 3-4 days and it can sometimes take a while to time things just right. It always seems easier to get pregnant when one is not trying than when one is trying! Dont get discouraged. It may even take a few months to begin to ovulate regularly. Every woman is different and that is why docs say to wait 6 months because almost all women are back to cycling normally by 6 mos. Best of Luck!
