I am 35, fairly overweight, and what could probaly qualify as a chronic alcohol abuser. for a couple months, I have just been drinking on the weekend, but on the weekend, I usually drink a lot (a 1.75L bottle of hard liquor over the course of the weekend). I started feeling an attack of diverticulitis coming on Monday after a typical weekend of drinking, and I wanted to take some [5/500] Vicodin left over from my last attack to help me get over it. The first one I took was on Monday night, about 24H after stopping drinking. I have since stopped the Vicodin and am now taking a light dose of Tylenol PM. How concerned should I be about the paracetamol in the Vicodin/Tylenol?
Hello btbredf, the daily maximum of tylenol should not exceed 2000mg. You need to count these amounts & add them together with you vicodin, & tylenol PM. Tylenol as you probably know can cause problems with the liver if taking too much. Being a 'heavy' drinker can also cause cirrohis of the liver so I would suggest you watch you daily intake of tylenol. If you have not had any blood tests on your liver in some time, I believe it would be a good idea to have this done. Wishing you the best...
