I have been depressed for many years I tried many medications that did not help until I tried 2 mg of abilify I helped a lot for a few weeks and then I got depressed again my doctor increased my dose to 5 mg is their a greater chance it will work for me again and not stop working and how long does it take to work. Thanks for your answer
I don't take abilify but i do take citalapram which is another antidepressant, but i would think it is like most other antidepressants, takes about 2 weeks to build up in your system and start actually making you feel the results. hope that helped a little, just stick with it and your days will start to seem just a little brighter
Abilify is not an antidepressant it's an antipsychotic that's often used instead of, or in addition to, an antidepressant and works entirely differently in your system. Since you got relief from your starting dose there's every reason to believe the small increase will have you feeling even better very shortly.
I started Abilify at 5mg and gradually increased to 20mg. I've been taking it now for over a year and find it's the best medication I've ever been on.
Best wishes to you too! WCV
