Okay so I take Loestrin 24. I have for a couple years now. My period is light and usually on time, and I get it when I'm supposed to. My boyfriend and I do have sex and not use condoms but he usually pulls out. I am horrible about taking it on time and am very irregular when taking it. (I know bad) but when we last had sex was 4 weeks ago I want to say. I was supposed to get my period over a week ago and took a test and it came out negative. So I don't understand why I missed my period! Also I stopped taking the next pack after I missed it hoping it would come but didn't.. Should I continue on my next pack? I don't know what to do! I'm not having any other signs of being pregnant aka sore boobs, feeling nauseous, etc...
You should have kept taking your pills. Once you start them you don't alter the schedule. Start them and use a condom for 7 days. When on the pill its normal to skip a period now and then. If you skip the next one too, see a Dr for a test. And make more of an effort to take them at the same time every day. They are more then 99% effective if taken correctly.
Pulling out doesnt do anything to keep you from conceiving. It is a wasted gesture. If you are going to let your partner in without a condom then you might as well let him finish. I agree with kaismama-you dont want to ever alter the way you take the Pill. You may skip a period now and then. If you skip two in a row then you should test and see your gynecologist but otherwise just keep taking them as they come in the pack. Taking them at irregular times does decrease the effectiveness but only very slightly. To work their best you should take them at roughly the same time-set an alarm on your phone to remind you and pick a time that is most convenient. Sooner or later you will wind up pregnant if you are not taking them regularly and this will happen whether or not he pulls out before he ejaculates. Men secrete sperm all through the sex act, not just at ejaculation. It is not something they are aware of or can control but it occurs anyway.
