I'm not sexually active yet, but I've been on the pill for four months nd me and my long-term boyfreind may or may be ready to have sex soon. But any whoo, those who haven't gone pregnant... are you using condoms also? If not, are you getting him ejaculate in you? That. is y ultimate question.. my doctor says the pill "works now" but I just wanna know. Thanks :-)
As long as you take the Pill every day and try to take it around the same time of day, the Pill is very effective. I used it for years with no pregnancy and my partner(s) did ejaculate inside me. I didnt use condoms once I was married and some times before I was married I didnt use them. The main reasons to use condoms while on the Pill is either for back up if you missed, or were a day late on a Pill, or if you are on antibiotics, because they decrease the effectiveness of the Pill, and to prevent STD's if you have multiple partners, or are not sure of your partners former sex history. We used to teach that when you have sex with a person, you are exposed to any infections his/her former partners had, for the past five years worth of partners AND any of their partners partners (so for some people you are talking about a lot of shared organisms), because some infections can "percolate" for a while before they show symptoms and some sexually transmitted infections have no symptoms in males, but they can be carriers and infect females they are with. Some men, and some boys get around to a lot of women and you may, or may not, know who all they have been with and you might be surprised about the histories of some men. It is always good to protect yourself until you are at a point in your relationship that you have shared knowledge of all of your past partners and he has shared his (and you can sometimes bet he might have a few that he didnt tell you about). Once you are on the Pill continuously for at least seven days with no misses, you are protected against pregnancy even if he ejaculates within you and even during the inert pill week. Just remember to use back up if you miss a Pill or are late on a Pill (you miss it one day but make it up the next) or when you are on antibiotic therapy and for a least a week or two after you finish them and you should be fine as far as pregnancy goes. If you dont want to "catch" anything then insist your partner uses condoms.
