ive been taking this pill for 2 years now never missing a day, is there a chance of me getting pregnant if i took the white pill in the morning had sex but the next day i have a brown pill? i dont get my periods regularly anymore because of my birth control as well. thanks for the help!
As long as you take your active pills every day without any misses, you are still protected even on inactive pill days. the active pills prevent ovulation that month then the hormones are withdrawn so your period comes, you will not ovulate during the week of inactive pills. Once you are past the original waiting period when you first start the pill, you only need condoms as protection against STDs unless you start forgetting to take active pills, then you need condoms for back up protection. There is no need for your partner to withdraw before ejaculation while on the pill either. Since you dont ovulate you wont get pregnant and withdrawal of the penis before ejaculation doesnt protect you from getting pregnant anyway, this is an old old wives tale and it is very untrue. "Pulling out" or withdrawing the penis prior to ejaculation does NOTHING to protect you since sperm can be secreted all throughout the sex act and the male cannot control this seepage.
So, if you are sure that your partner is free from infection, you do not need a condom any longer once you are established on the pill. It is still a good idea to use one though because it is difficult to tell who is infected just by looking. Men can be infected with some STDs and have no symptoms that you can see.
Hello riley!! As long as you are taking your pills every day, don't miss any, and take them at around the same time every day, you should not get pregnant, and there is no need to use extra protection while you're on the pill no matter where you are in your pill pack, you are totally protected. Hope this helps!
