what happes if it fails
WebMD.com has some good information on liver failure. I copied this info from that website:
"Liver failure is a life-threatening condition that demands urgent medical care. Most often, liver failure occurs gradually and over many years. However, a more rare condition known as acute liver failure occurs rapidly (in as little as 48 hours) and can be difficult to detect initially."
There's a lot more info, but you'll need to go to WebMD.com to read it all.
I can tell you it is very serious, and I have several friends (as well as family members) who have died of liver failure due to not following their doctor's instructions! If you know your liver is failing, it is imperative that you seek medical treatment and if you drink alcoholic beverages or take drugs (including some over-the-counter drugs), you need to research what, if any, affect they have on your liver and STOP using anything that compromises the liver in any way!
Good luck to you!
