Would lithium be used in the treatment of alcoholism, person is not bipolar?

Hello kimlyche. It might. although I could not find that is has been prescribed off label for Alcoholism. It is used for the treatment in Depression, (not as in bipolar). I said might in that alcohol is a depressant. My theory is that if a person is not depressed, the likely hood for becoming an alcoholic is lessened. People drink alcohol, and often might abuse it for any number of reasons. Not necessarily for my reasoning. Regards pledge free discount card
