Like to know if I can take lithium to cure my depression
Just like Balbanese said... it does not cure it, but it helps it... I'm Bipolar, and have been on Lithium for two years. I has really balanced my moods, expecially my manic episodes, which would always end up in a bad depression. So by working as a mood-stabilizer, it keeps me "leveled" as I call it, and helps enough so you can use all your tools to prevent your depressions as much as possible. But of course, this needs to be decided by a kind, compassionate, well educated Psychiatrist. Good-luck!
Lithium is and remains a difficult and even dangerous drug to take. Blood levels need to be monitored and is used for bipolar as well as severe depression. It helps some people and is very carefully watched.
Mild depression often resolves with talk therapy. And because mild depression is really sadness, I am not sure what is meant by that. Evaluation is key. No one can evaluate themselves. Only an expert can.
I am on manerix along with lithium for manor depression. It is a very safe drug as long as your blood levels are checked yearly. It has worked very well to get me out completely of the depression and stay that way since 2008. It is a mood stabilizer also if you need that.
