I suffer from Bipolar II and co-morbid anxiety disorder. For a while the anxiety disorder was treated by the Lithium I was taking. However, after taking an over the counter remedy for constipation the Lithium was flushed from my system (I went from a blood level of 0.95 down to a level of 0.41). Increasing my Lithium dose returned my blood level. However the anti-anxiety effect was lost. Does anyone know how long it will take for the anti-anxiety effect to return? My doctor says the time scale is in months.
Hi, Ish! I can't give you a definitive answer but I've read several studies in which subjects were re-evaluated after twelve weeks of lithium treatment and had showed significant improvement.
This would seem to fit with your doctor's time frame.
Best regards and good luck to you! Wildcat
I was mistakenly diagnosed with Bi Polar, and put on Lithium. It soon became very apparent that I was not and just a young teen going through puberty because stuff started getting very strange.
After 4-5 months they took me off it and I was back to being an angry brat.
