... besylate 10 mg 1 time a day. I ran out of lisinopril a week ago BP been 124/64 I feel fine. My life has become alot less stressful over the last few years. Would it be safe for me to continue not taking the lisinopril if I keep an eye on my BP? I'm thinking maybe I no longer need as much anymore
I think that is something you have to run by your dr. Keep track of your daily blood pressure to take with you to show him.
Hmmm... we in the medical community call this self-diagnosis, and it's generally never a good idea to discontinue medication merely because you do not experience symptoms of disease while off the medication. And one week does not constitute stable discontinuation. The complicated factor with your medication Lisinopril-HCTZ is that this is a combination of an ACE-inhibitor and a diuretic (water pill). These drugs work using two separate mechanisms to lower blood pressure, so you are actually stopping two medications at once.
Consult with your provider. They may agree with you, but they may start by lowering the dosing on one or more of your prescriptions.
