Second week on lexapro and still experiencing a lot of anxiety and insomnia. Feeling very discouraged. When does it kick in? I need some positive feedback. Thanks.
When I was taking it, it started to help at the end of the 3rd week. It really started to kick in by week 4. But everyone is different. It was a harsh start up for me, but did eventually help the anxiety and I did start to sleep better. I was on 5 mg. But others did well on 10 mg.
You will get there it just takes time. Your half way there :)
Typically 5mg is a start up dose. I'm pretty sure 10mg is the minimum therapeutic dose. I would talk to my doctor if I were you. Also the first week or so is just building up I noticed some improvement around week 3 to 4 on 10mg. Don't get too discouraged many of us deal or have dealt with this. It's a pain but you are not alone
HiSdallas! The good news is that you're at least halfway to the point that people start feeling positive effects from Lexapro because Lexapro takes effect much sooner than almost any other antidepressant at 3-4 weeks.
Try to stick with it for just a bit longer and I think you'll start feeling great.
Good luck and best wishes, Wildcat
I was bumped up to 7.5 yesterday with the option to go to 10mg. I am just concerned about the side effects and also frustrated that I haven't started to feel better yet. I am still having panic attacks, insomnia and now blurred vision. Hoping this gets better soon!! Need encouragement. My husband is tired of hearing about it.
