Anytime I have to go somewhere new and unfamiliar or talk to people I don't know I get incredibly nervous. I hate going places by myself. I can't make friends because I feel like I don't know how to talk to people and keep the conversation. Will lexapro help me with this?
Hi, Hot! You sound so much like me we could be clones! Yes, Lexapro is very commonly and successfully prescribed both for depression and the anxiety disorders like Social Anxiety Disorder.
You should know that Lexapro won't work overnight ~ it takes about 3-4 weeks before you'll start feeling results and 6-8 weeks to reach therapeutic blood levels. Less than 25% of patients may experience some mild to moderate nausea, dizziness, and headaches which are easily managed with home/OTC remedies. In some people it may increase anxiety levels temporarily but these side effects are transient and generally resolve over the the first few days to weeks of treatment.
Personally, Lexapro worked like a charm for me so if you're willing to give it a try I'd say go for it. It's great being healthy, happy, and confident.
