I have been on lexapro since January and found it has not been effective enough in treating my depression, so I switched to Effexor two months ago and still my symptoms have not faded away. I am just wondering what other options are there to take after this? Could I switch to an MAOI or an atypical like bupropion? Thanks
Hi, kyle! Have you discussed this with your doctor? How about an add-on like Abilify or Rexulti? Latuda for bipolar depression? A mood stabilizer like lithium or an anticonvulsant such as Lamictal or Tegretol?
It's frustrating because no drug affects an individual just like it does the next guy. It's trial and error, but since an SSRI and an SSNRI haven't worked for you you might also consider a TCA or atypical. MAOI's are kind of iffy on side effects and dietary restrictions.
Best regards and hope you're feeling better soon. Wildcat
