I've been on Lexapro 5MG for 4 days for GAD and the first 4 days reduced my anxiety by quite a lot, but today I started feeling kind of bad again such as unwanted thoughts, depersonalization, derealization, and racing thoughts. Is it okay for me to take 10MG or should I stay with 5MG till I visit my doctor in a couple of days?
5mg is a therapeutic dose, which means it's a starting dose and won't actually fix the anxiety issue long term. Anxiety also sometimes requires slightly more than the standard dose (which is 10mg). So, I would suggest upping your dose to 10mg (providing your dr is happy with this) and possibly later on to 15mg. So to answer your question - you cannot stay on 5mg if you want to sort out your anxiety. The dose will not fix the problem.
