... seem to have gone back into the normal range.Just wondering if anyone else has experienced being so goshed darned hungry throughout their day while taking this medication as I am? It's ridiculous how much I can eat since I started taking this stuff! When I asked the pharmacist if I would notice any side effects she said probably not since it's such a low dose but I can't figure out any other reason for this obsessive hunger, especially the last couple of weeks! I wasn't overweight when I started taking this drug(I am a runner) but now I am beginning to wonder if I am going to gain gain gain???
The testing, diagnosis and treatment for hypothyroidism is actually very complex. There is more to it than your TSH levels, particularly consideting Levels 3 and 4. When treated by non-specialists, my significant symptoms were often overlooked because the THS was in "normal range."
One school of thought is that prior to diagnosis and treatment, the metabolism, the body and the brain are sluggish. When treatment goes into effect, the system kind of awakens from this sluggish state. For me that meant I was less depressed and more engaged in life. For a time, I was indeed eating more and gained weight! I'm not suggesting that this is the same in your case, but this medication is intended to speed up, not slow down, the metabolism. It is really important to be very clear with your Dr about symptoms for this condition. Initially I kept notes on a pocket calendar which I later showed to my Dr. Dosage can be a bit tricky. After a few years of treatment all my levels remained in "normal range" and I was eventually able to discontinue the medication. I don't know if this was unique to my case, but I was very pleased. Good luck to you.
