I've never had a weight problem. What can I do? Does the thyroid supposed to hurt? My daughter of 23 just find out her thyroid is very low. Does the thyroid make you not have energy?
Yes, being hypothyroid in itself causes weight gain, and a list of many many symptoms such as anxiety, hair loss, unclear thinking (brain fog), cold hands and feet, feelings of depression the list is long. Levothyroxine is a t4 only drug that doesn't give the body what it really needs. Please read about t3 and t4 medications for thyroid and see what others have to say about it. T3 is what gives us our energy and reasonable weight loss, along with many other benefits. If you continue to gain weight and the doctor states that your labs are all fine, or that you must give it time find another doctor.
