Previously struggled with 15 years of Fibro and recently have undergone 10 hip surgeries with multiple infections. I've been taking Levaquin 500 mg once a day for 60 days and have complained to my surgeon over the past 2 weeks of crippling pain. He has advised me to continue until today when I said NO MORE! I can barely move at all! I hands feel arthritic and I haven't worn jewelry for months. My wrists, ankles and all over body pain is debilitating. His advice is to switch me to Bactrim for 2 more months but I'm Leary to take anything more. I'm interested in hearing more about Vit C therapy and what doses were taken and what else was used to help ease this horrid pain. Thank you kindly in advance! So grateful I came across this site for answers
First of all, I'm not a Dr... I can't diagnose you or tell u deffinitely to try something or not to, this is just what works for me. I don't know much about the levaquin, but I have found some things that have helped my pain levels. I have had fibro for about 11 years now and my pain has gotten progressively worse. There are, however some natural things I've found to work almost if not as well as RX meds. I use peppermint oil on my wrists, forehead, and temples or eat peppermint candy with real peppermint I it, or peppermint tea for head pain/nausea. For muscle and joints, I recommend Epsom salt baths highly!! There are two different brands u can get at Wal-Mart if u have one near u. One is Dr. Teals and I'm not sure what the other one is. You can find them with the bubble baths. They make salts, oils, body wash/bubble bath and lotions specifically for pain relief and they do help. Also, there is a homeopathic pill with arnica extract in it. They have a regular and one for arthritis which is what I get. I don't have arthritis, but if you read the symptoms it treats, it fits fibro better. They dissolve under the tongue and u can take them every 15 min if u really wanted to... I only really need them 3 times a day. I'm normally prescribed dilaudid and the arnica blend works faster and sometimes even works better at relieving my pain. Also, adding lavender oil or lotion or even lavender refreeze to your nightly routine helps you relax your mind and body. Tiger balm is also quite effective for treating pain topically, I just rub it where u are most sore. I also added potassium to my diet to help reduce muscle spasms and it has helped a lot. I hope this was helpful. And btw... Most of the things I mentioned are pretty inexpensive.
