what is the meaning of those 4 letters?
what do the letters SSRI represent ?
Let me elaborate on Emeraldgirls comment. SSRI selective serotonin reputable inhibitors. Reputake is when neurotransmitters in this case serotonin are reabsorbed into the neuron. Yet there is a small gap called a synaptic gap and sometimes serotonin gets rejected at the gap and doesn't effectively get reabsorbed into the neuron which leaves it lacking serotonin. SSRI' are designed to permit better reuptake of serotonin but neuroscience is still somewhat a mystery so it can overload them in some cases causing damage. Yes neurons are nearly infinite however over time it can change neuropathology. After taking the medication for roughly 4-5 weeks a significant change occurs and that change is euphoria, similar to any drug that acts on serotonin surge. That's why people feel wonderful. A new person so to speak. Well serotonin can be depleted and it takes years to regenerate I depleted mine and it isn't pleasant. I'm looking at another 5 years until I'm back to normal levels and I've been regenerating for the last 5 years. Just something to consider.
