While prescribing the two medications in concert might not be the wisest of decisions--due to a myriad of safety concerns--it is completely legal for a duly licensed physician or other healthcare professional with prescribing privileges to write for both hydrocodone and Ativan (lorazepam). Doing so is at the discretion of the prescriber.
