Adipex (phentermine) is legal. It is the combination of Phentermine and Fenfluramine (Phen/Fen) that is now illegal to prescribe together because of causing heart issues when taken together. A pharmacy wont fill an illegal drug as kaismama pointed out. For many people side effects are mild but some people do experience side effects. Main side effects are as follows: Cardiovascular: Primary pulmonary hypertension and/or regurgitant cardiac valvular disease, palpitation, tachycardia, elevation of blood pressure.
Central Nervous System: Overstimulation, restlessness, dizziness, insomnia, euphoria, dysphoria, tremor, headache; rarely psychotic episodes at recommended doses. Taking this drug with other stimulants like caffeine will make the stimulant effects more pronounced.
Gastrointestinal: Dryness of the mouth, unpleasant taste, diarrhea, constipation, other gastrointestinal disturbances.
Endocrine: Impotence, changes in libido.
If she is having too many side effects then she should just stop taking the drug and notify her Dr of the side effects. they should resolve once she is off of the drug.
