To take so I don't have a major panic attack I am very worried about the pain with this procedure what would help me be almost asleep because they don't give you anything for pain !!! Help!!!
Hi Prospect, this is Liz. I worked in the operating room for many years and assisted on many of these procedures. Although I have not had a leep done personally, I did have a biopsy in the office. Please don't lose any more sleep or worry about this procedure too much, (I know almost impossible), but I do not think you will be in a great amount of pain. I know your doc will give you discharge instructions, but for the rest of the day of procedure, rest, elevate feet, don't lift anything heavy etc... You should experience menstrual type cramping, maybe cramping like a bad cycle. I don't know if doc will want you to take ibuprofen, since it is a blood thinner, but definitely ask what you can take since you are concerned about pain. You should feel fine the next day or so, you won't be down long. You will be fine. If you need to talk anymore the closer your procedure gets, please feel free to contact me again. Good luck, and hope all goes well!! Bless
