Presumably it has been tested before (over here they just give the 'good' cholesterol amount (in different units to you) and don't test the rest unless requested). If it were a sudden increase I might suspect your endocrine system (my cholesterol levels literally doubled in 3 weeks in response to some hormone therapy). What did the Doctor say? Did he/she comment? Recommend Statins to lower it? Diet?
The Doctor should have a pretty good idea if it's a problem: her/his informed opinion is probably more useful than idle speculation from us. With the exception maybe of a couple of people (who are not me).
